Memorial Day Camping 2007

We went on our first camping trip of 2007 in our new (used) camper. The campground is called Indian Creek Equestrian Campground and is located just outside of Sedalia. Setting up camp was a cinch. It took less than an hour to get the horses situated and the camper ready.

Dirk tried feverishly to start a fire but was unsuccessful. So guess what we did? That's right, went into the warm, dry camper. Woo Hoo! We played games and drank a few brewskies. It was fabulous.

The next morning I awoke to a horrible yelping. Dirk accidently spilled hot coffee on Cooper. Cooper was so upset that he snubbed Dirk for 2 days and wouldn't go anywhere near him.

We went for a ride later that morning. The horses were very well behaved. We stopped and had lunch and then headed back.

Dani, Richard and the kiddos showed up for dinner and we had a great time. Dirk, Dani and Richard worked on the fire while the kids collected kindling. It was great.

Sienna had a swollen knee Sunday morning so we decided to relax around camp and head home. As usual we stopped at the local ice cream parlor from some cones. They're so darn yummy.

It was a great trip even though we had to cut it short.

Dirk and Chris

We'd like to take a moment to introduce all our furry family members.

Peaches is a princess in our home. She completely rules the roost. She loves to cuddle and is completely obsessed with Chris.

Buster is a sweet, mild tempered lab. He isn't the traditional hyper type. He doesn't like to swim, doesn't fetch and prefers to be indoors sleeping on a warm comfy bed. His teeth chatter when he gets cold.

Cooper is the youngest dog. We got him for a shelter in December. He's a bit shy and really hyper. He definitely makes up for Buster's calmness. Hopefully Cooper will learn the joys of fetching and swimming like every normal bird dog. Time will tell.

Dakota (aka Little Man) is the horse Chris rides. He's very curious. He can and will open gates and untie himself whenever possible. He still looks like a colt but he's 13 years old. He was born on August 2, 1994 and we've had him since 1999. He's the most sure-footed of all our horses. In fact we call him a mountain goat. The terrain he can navigate is amazing.

Shae is Dirk's horse. She's very sweet, but nervous. She was abused before we got her and it took awhile to gain her trust. She is completely smitten with Dirk. She'll do whatever he wants. Shae's birthday is April 16, 1993 so she's 14. We bought her in 2000.

Sienna (aka Baby Girl) is the baby of the group. She's 5 so not really a baby. Her birthday is March 24, 2002. We've had her since the day she was born. She's a total brat and a sweetheart at the same time. She is the first one to the fence to say hello and follows us around like a puppy. She's very mischievous and will wander around the garage if we leave the door open.
